This notice covers wildleadership.co, including Gen X at Work and genxatwork.com. It says what the site collects, why, who else sees it, and how to make me delete it.

Who holds your data

Wild Leadership Ltd is the data controller.

There is no team. Anything you send arrives with me, Magnus Wood.

Tracking and cookies

This site does not track you. There is no Google Analytics here, no Meta pixel, no advertising network, no session recording, and nothing that follows you to another website. That is why there is no cookie banner. A visitor who reads this site and leaves has no cookies set by it at all.

I do keep a simple count of traffic, using Independent Analytics. It runs on my own server rather than someone else’s, sets no cookies, and records only the page viewed, the site or search that sent you, your rough country, and whether you were on a phone or a computer. It does not build a profile, and it does not identify you.

Field Notes, the email list

If you sign up for Field Notes, I hold your email address, and your first name if you give it. It is stored by Kit, which sends the emails on my behalf. Kit records whether an email was opened and whether a link was clicked.

You get a Field Note every week, with experiences and ideas, a round-up every month of thoughts, observations and things that might be useful, and occasionally a note about something I am running. Nothing else. I do not sell, rent, share or trade the list, and nobody else mails it. People who signed up to the earlier daily email, A Hundred Wild Words, are on the same list.

Lawful basis: your consent.

Retention: until you unsubscribe, plus a record of the unsubscribe itself so you are not added again by accident. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. It works immediately.

The Recognition, closed

The Recognition was seven questions about what your leadership team tolerates. It closed in October 2026 and no longer takes answers. What follows applies to answers already sent. The form was built and hosted by Tally.

Read this part properly, because it is the one that matters.

Your answers come to me and I read every one. I reply personally, usually within the week. Depending on what you write, your answers may describe your employer, your colleagues or your own conduct at work. Nobody else sees them. They are not published, quoted, summarised in my writing, shown in talks, or used as examples with clients. If I ever wanted to refer to something you wrote, I would ask you first, and you would be free to say no.

You do not need to give your real name or your company’s name. The assessment works without either.

Lawful basis: your consent when you submit, and my legitimate interest in replying to you.

Retention: twelve months from the date you submit, then deleted from Tally and from my email. Ask me sooner and I will delete it sooner, without asking why.

The Domestication Index, closed

The Index closed in November 2026 and no longer takes answers. What follows applies to answers already sent.

The Index was an anonymous survey about what UK workers see in the people who manage them. It did not ask for your name, your employer or your email as part of the survey itself, and I have no way of identifying who submitted what.

Individual responses are never published. Only aggregate figures are: the index value, the number of responses, and the percentage agreeing with each of the four statements.

If you left an email address at the end to hear what the Index found, that address is held separately from the responses and is not linked back to your answers.

Lawful basis: your consent.

Retention: anonymous responses are kept because the published aggregate depends on them. Emails until you ask me to remove yours.

Gen X Stories

If you send a story through the form on Gen X Stories, I hold what you send: your words, any photographs, and your name and email if you give them. Email is only needed if you send a photograph, so I can check with you before it is used. The form is my own. What you send stays on this site’s server, and the text is checked for spam by Akismet.

Photographs go into a private folder that cannot be reached from the web. The location and camera details inside them are removed when they arrive. Nothing goes up until you have seen it and said yes. If you give a name, I use your first name only. If you tick the box for Field Notes, your email also goes to Kit.

If I decide not to use a story, it and its photographs are deleted 90 days later. Published stories stay up while the series runs. Ask, and yours comes down.

If you send a story on WhatsApp instead, it arrives in my WhatsApp, and WhatsApp’s own terms cover the sending.

Five questions about your customers

The guessing game on Work with me saves each guess, the question it answered, the page and the site that sent you there. It does not ask for your name or email. To stop the same person guessing twice, it keeps a one-way code made from your connection that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you. I may publish the totals.

Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in understanding what people believe about this generation.

Corrections and suggestions

“Suggest a correction” on The Evidence and Letting Go, and “What did we miss?” on The Years That Made Us, open an email to me. What you send stays in my inbox.

Who else your data touches

These are the only companies that process anything from this site on my behalf:

  • Kit (United States) — the Field Notes email list
  • Tally (Belgium) — answers already sent to The Domestication Index and The Recognition
  • TidyCal (United States) — booking the thirty-minute off-the-record call; it holds your name, email and the time you chose
  • Google (United States) — the published spreadsheet holding the Index aggregate figures. No analytics, no advertising.
  • Automattic (United States) — Jetpack, which protects the site against malicious logins, and Akismet, which filters spam
  • Meta (United States) — WhatsApp, if you choose to send a story that way
  • Substack (United States) — the Seasonal Book, if you subscribe to it
  • GreenGeeks — hosting

Where these are outside the UK, the transfer relies on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.

I do not sell data. I do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. The only circumstance in which I would hand anything over is if the law required it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:

  • tell you what I hold about you
  • give you a copy
  • correct anything wrong
  • delete it
  • stop using it, or restrict how I use it
  • withdraw a consent you gave earlier

Email magnus@wildleadership.co or magnus@genxatwork.com and say what you want. There is no form. I will do it within a month, usually the same week, and I will not ask you to justify it.

If you think I have handled your data badly, tell me first and I will try to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. You do not need my permission to do that.

Children

This site is for working adults. I do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that affects you, I will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, say so in the Field Note.
