Three in ten American workers strongly agree that their opinions count at work

Three in ten United States workers strongly agree that at work their opinions seem to count. Gallup calculates that if the share rose to six in ten, organisations could expect a 27 per cent reduction in turnover, a 40 per cent reduction in safety incidents and a 12 per cent increase in productivity.

The figures are from a Gallup Workplace article by Jake Herway published on 7 December 2017, drawing on Gallup’s employee engagement database. The opinions item is question seven of Gallup’s twelve-item engagement survey. The 2017 State of the American Workplace report, built on more than 195,600 United States employees surveyed in 2015 and 2016, records the same item and its movement over time.
